The Variables of Life You Can't Control

Control only Inputs

I was on a consultation today with one of my subscribers.

He told me how he wants to start freelancing, has no clue where to begin, and wants to hit $1K/month in the next 6 months.

His dad has a business, but he wants to do something of his own and he thinks video editing is “THE THING”for him.

I listened. Gave him a bunch of inputs. But throughout the call, I kept coming back to one point:

There are a lot of variables in life that you simply can’t control.

Your roadmap will change after every step.

Why?

Because you are changing. You're evolving.

And that’s perfectly fine.

There’s no one-size-fits-all strategy.

The only constant you need is WORK .

This whole convo got me thinking…

How often do I try to control life and force predictable outcomes?

Like... does that even make sense?

Do big companies make foolproof, predictable plans and know exactly how it’s gonna play out?

Hell no.

Even they figure sh*t out as they go.

Yes, they have direction. But they adapt. They move. They tweak things fast.

But we individuals aren’t always that logical. We let emotions, fear, and timelines mess with our heads.

Even in my own biz, I try to take the most logical path.

“Clear moves, predictable results.”

But that’s not how it works, especially at this stage. We’re learning on the go.

Feedback. Execution. Iteration. Repeat.

On the personal side, I see so many of us trying to control every little thing, every outcome, every result.

But here’s a reminder to myself (and to you):

You can’t f*cking control OUTCOMES.

Focus on INPUTS.

Control the sh*t that’s actually in your hands:

  • Sending cold emails every day

  • Making content weekly

  • Gym daily

  • Journaling

  • Learning

These are inputs. Fully in your control.

But outputs like…

  • “5 clients next month”

  • “100K subs in 4 weeks”

  • “6-pack in 6 months”

You don’t control that.

Put oranges in a juicer, you’ll get orange juice. That’s just how it works.

Likewise, if you make the right efforts, the results will come, probably not when you expect, but when you have earned them.

And most of the time, everything comes at once… success or failure. That’s how compounding works.

Now yeah, once you have built experience and have solid data from what worked before, then sure, go ahead and set output-based goals.

Because now you know the path. You've walked it.

But when you're still figuring it out, don’t obsess over the outcome. Obsess over the process.

That’s exactly what I told the guy on the call, Forget the $1K/month for now.

Do 6-8 hours a day of intense learning. Build your portfolio. Outreach.

Clients will come.
