Identity crisis suck

Before we start, read this…
If you copy someone else’s path, you might end up hating the life you built… even if it makes money.

I will explain that, let’s start.

The weird thing with me is that the more I talk to other agency owners and entrepreneurs, the more I sometimes start building their dream life instead of mine.
Like… why am I suddenly considering a path that doesn’t even feel like me?

Recently, I had this mini identity crisis (happens to the best of us… haha), and it made me realise how much we unconsciously borrow other people’s rules.

This is what happened…

I want to build my agency, my business, and my life a certain way.
But then I talk to these big, crazy (in a good way) founders or content creators who are killing it, and suddenly my brain is like:
“Oh, tHaT’s tHe wAy. I should do that tooooooooo.”
Even if it’s not aligned with what I actually want.

For example, I was talking to this one founder who’s all about the grind…

Office life, tier-one city and hardcore “I love staying in one place and working day in, day out” energy.

Cool for him, but… that’s not me.
The idea of being locked in an office all year is like a nightmare for me.

And fun fact is I knew, the office thing is not for me but I started considering it and I was like,”Bro no, I am not an office person yet… Naaah.”

And I reflected on this though for a while and came up with few things…

  • I love traveling. Like, can’t-live-without-it love.

  • My philosophy is simple… live life to the fullest while you are building your thing.

  • I don’t want to sacrifice my entire 20’s sitting in front of a laptop, waiting for “future me” to finally enjoy life.

  • I want stories, experiences and feel alive now, not in some imaginary “after I make it” timeline.

Classic me happy while travelling!

This doesn’t mean I don’t want to work hard. I do. I am not here to just chill 24x7 but…
I want a balance.
Not the fake Instagram “5 AM club” kind of balance where you have to live like a robot.
I mean the kind of balance and life where I grind when I need to, but also go on vacations, explore the world, and still manage my business like a boss.

Classic me crushing the work from a cafe at 11pm in Manali!

The Identity Hijack Problem (Sick term, I should trademark it… lol)

See, every entrepreneur has their own rules.
Some people genuinely thrive sitting in an office all day, that’s their fuel.
Others (like me) thrive when we are out there experiencing life… different places, different people, different energy.

And if I try to copy someone else’s blueprint just because they are “successful,” I will end up building a life I don’t even like.
Because we are not built the same and that’s completely fine.

The Big Aha Moment

I was THIS close to convincing myself I need to open an office (I told you before) because “that’s what real agency owners do.”
Then I talked to another founder who built his entire team remotely and guess what?
He is doing really great, His business is booming.

That’s when it clicked: Why am I designing my life around a business model, when the business should actually fit around my life?

If this agency model ever stops giving me what I want… location freedom, time freedom, money freedom then I will switch.
I will pivot to a product-based business or a solopreneur model or build a creator-first brand… anything that will fit my Ikigai.
The point is… I will make it work for my life, not the other way around.

Take the Good, Ditch the Rest

Learn from everyone, get inspired by the best but don’t let their belief systems overwrite yours.

If someone thrives in the grind and you don’t…. Cool. Let then do their thing.
If someone says, “I worked 5 years straight without breaks and that’s the only way,” and you are like “Nah, I will travel while building,” that’s fine too.

There’s no one-size-fits-all here.
Your uniqueness is literally your biggest advantage.
If nobody’s done it the way you want to do it, maybe that’s exactly why you should.

TL;DR:
Talk to people, Learn from them but when it comes to how you live, work, and build… you are the main character.
Don’t let someone else’s script ruin your movie ;)

Cheers from my mancave,
